Officials with the Dayton (Ohio) School District and the city of Dayton are creating a 16-member community task force to study the feasibility of closing or consolidating underused school facilities.

The Dayton Daily News reports that district administrators are considering closing a number of under-enrolled schools next fall, as well as the future of the district headquarters buildings in the city's downtown

The eight schools that are the most under capacity, according to district officials are all in West Dayton—Wogaman (28 percent occupied), Boys Prep (29 percent), Rosa Parks (32 percent), EJ Brown (36 percent), Meadowdale Elementary (37 percent), Meadowdale HS (43 percent), World of Wonder (46 percent) and Westwood (48 percent).

District officials say no decisions have been made on which campus will close, or how many.

The district has indicated that public discussions would take place before it decided on closing any buildings.
