New York charter schools to get new digs

Three New York charter schools have moved into new spaces, according to the office of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“The new locations replace co-location proposals previously halted by the Department of Education due to clear and consistent criteria established to ensure high-quality learning opportunities for all students,” a statement from the mayor’s office said.

Mayor Blasio has recently been criticized for his apparent lack of support for charter schools in New York. The resultant animosity prompted Gov. Andrew Cuomo to come out in public support of charter schools in the state. 

The schools will move into former Catholic school buildings that the city will lease from the New York Archdiocese.
