  • The comprehensive upgrade comes after a patchwork of previous fixes.

The Clarkston (Washington) district has carried out a $3.8 million renovation of the HVAC system at Heights Elementary School.

The Lewiston Tribune reports the workers have replaced 22 of 30 HVAC units (eight had already been replaced) and have replaced PVC pipe from the 1990s with copper pipes.

The renovation replaces a patchwork of fixes that created a “Band-Aid system,” said Dani Lynas, the district’s executive director of financial services. In recent years, water pumps had stopped and old PVC pipes were failing.

Funding for the HVAC upgrade comes from the district's 2024 capital levy.
