A design firm is beginning a three-year effort to improve energy efficiency in the nation's higher-education facilities.
EYP Inc. and its energy practice, The Weidt Group, will help colleges and universities prioritize energy savings in their capital planning through the use of the firm’s benchmarking software platform, Buildings, Benchmarks and Beyond. Colleges and universities can use the software to obtain valid data on which of their campus buildings has the greatest potential for improving energy performance.
The announcement of the Clinton Global Initiative America Commitment to Action came at the 2015 CGI America annual meeting in Denver.
"This commitment directly addresses one of the country’s most pressing challenges – the growing need to identify and measure energy efficiency investments on college campuses to achieve more sustainable and impactful higher education environments,” says Tom Birdsey, president and CEO of EYP Inc.
The Commitment to Action will entail an energy-efficiency benchmarking analysis of 13 colleges and universities. EYP and The Weidt Group will measure energy-efficiency costs and savings so that campuses can reduce emissions through building portfolio energy-efficiency improvements.
