Gunman in Florida State University campus shooting was an alumnus (with video)

The gunman, who has been identified as Myron May, a graduate of Florida State University and Texas Tech University's law school, wounded three people before he was shot and killed by campus police.

A gunman entered Florida State University’s Strozier Library at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday and opened fire. The gunman, who has been identified as Myron May, a graduate of Florida State University and Texas Tech University's law school, wounded three people before he was shot and killed by campus police, ABC news reported.

The three victims were all students. Hospital officials say one of the students is in critical condition, another is in fair condition and a third student, who was grazed by a bullet, was treated at the scene, according to the Miami Herald.

Campus police reportedly confronted the gunman just outside the library building and ordered him to drop his weapon. The gunman ignored the command and fired at least one shot at police officers. FSU police then shot and killed him.

“The Florida State University community is extremely saddened by the shootings,” FSU President John Thrasher said in the statement. “We are increasing security measures and providing a strong law enforcement presence
