$11.1 million bond issue approved in Gilbert (Iowa) district

Bonds will help pay for new high school and other school upgrades

From The Ames Tribune: Residents of the Gilbert (Iowa) district have approved an $11.1 million bond proposal that will pay for a portion of a $23 million facilities plan. The master plan seeks to provide space for student enrollment that has grown by 11.75 percent for the past five years. The district is looking to build a new high school improve an existing elementary school and convert the existing high school to an elementary school.
DECEMBER 2010...from The Ames Tribune: The Gilbert (Iowa) Community School District has scheduled an $11.1 million bond election on Feb. 1. The bonds would cover a portion of the district’s $23.5 million facilities plan. The plan calls for building a new high school and making improvements to the other schools over the next two years. Sales taxes and revenue bonds would fund the remainder of the facilities plan.
