From The Charlotte Observer: The Gaston County (N.C.) school board has decided not to close three neighborhood schools. The board opted not to follow the recommendations of a consultant, who said the district should close York Chester Middle, Rhyne Elementary and McAdenville Elementary. The consultant's study said closing the schools would save the district about $900,000 a year and $25 million to $27 million over the next five to seven years.
