New Jersey offers incentives for more efficient fluorescent fixtures

$6 million is available to K-12 schools to replace outdated T12 fluorescents

From The Newark Star-Ledger: New Jersey officials are offering $6 million to K-12 schools in an effort to replace inefficient T12 fluorescent light fixtures with new T-8 and T-5 energy-efficient lighting. Newark schools replaced a large number of light fixtures -- 95,000 -- in the late 1990s, but some older models are still hanging around, an official says.
