Another student from West Middle school has been charged with attempted murder; victim is in serious condition

A 15-year-old Martinsville, Ind., boy has been charged as a juvenile with attempted murder and four other felony counts in connection with a school shooting that seriously injured another 15-year-old boy. The victim, Chance Jackson, was in serious condition in an Indianapolis hospital. He has had two surgeries since the shooting last week at West Middle School. Authorities say the suspect had been expelled from the school.

Earlier....From The Indianapolis Star: A student at a middle school in Martinsville, Ind., was shot and wounded Friday morning. Another student has been arrested in connection with the shooting. The injured student was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis, and his condition was not known. Police say the shooting occurred before 7:30 a.m. just inside a doorway of West Middle School. The suspect walked away from the school and was arrested several miles away. Police located a handgun on a wooded hillside near a shopping center.


UPDATE: The victim was identified as Chance Jackson, a 15-year-old student at the school. Jackson was out of surgery and reported to be in stable condition.
