State wants to get project cost down to $125 million

Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in Danvers, Mass., and North Shore Technical High School in Middleton, Mass., may be combined to create a new $100 million-plus technical-agricultural high school serving at least 50 communities. The combined school, with a science and technology-based curriculum, would train students to work in biotech, machining, and health and environmental sciences. The project cost was pegged last year at $140 million, but the Massachusetts School Building Authority hopes to whittle it down to around $125 million.
