Budget shortfalls force board decision

From The Sacramento Bee: Twin Rivers (Calif.) Unified School District trustees have voted to close two elementary schools because of projected budget shortfalls. Larchmont Elementary in North Highlands and North Avenue Elementary in Sacramento will close in June. Twin Rivers already closed Rio Linda and Aero Haven elementary schools and plans to close two additional schools by 2012.

The district also is establishing a timetable for more realignments and consolidations. FEBRUARY 2010....from The Sacramento Bee: The Twin Rivers (Calif.) Unified School District school board has voted to close at least four schools by June 2011 and at least two more the following year. This is the first major reorganization of schools since Twin Rivers became a district in 2008. Twin Rivers formed when three small elementary districts merged with the Grant Joint Union High School District.
