South Carolina district blocked from building administrative headquarters

Sumter (S.C.) School District 17 will not be allowed to proceed with constructing a new administrative headquarters just 2½ years before it is combined with Sumter School District 2. The Sumter Consolidation Transition Committee voted 13-9 against the planned $3.5 million, 26,000-square-foot facility.
