Oak Park, Ill., close to buying elementary district's headquarters

Lease-back arrangement would ease school system's financial woes.

The village of Oak Park, Ill., and Elementary School District 97 are nearing an agreement on the sale and lease-back arrangement of the system's administrative center to help shore up its ailing bottom line. The district could get $1.2 million in each of the next two years through the sale of the facility to the village.
