State is one of 10 that do not have laws authorizing creation of charter schools
From The Montgomery Advertiser: Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley and Republican legislative leaders have proposed legislation that would allow charter schools in the state. The bill would allow city and county school boards to approve applications for state-funded charter schools from non-profit, non-religious organizations. The bill also would give school boards the authority to convert existing traditional schools into charter schools.
