Board members decide to close school before the state can take it over

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: The East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) School Board has voted to close Lee High School immediately rather than let some students stay for another year. Board members say the high school remains below the state’s minimum performance score of 60 and therefore is eligible for takeover, perhaps as early as August. They described the closing as a moved forced on them to prevent such a takeover. The question of where Lee High students will go is still unresolved.
