Union says agreement will save thousands of district jobs

From The Los Angeles Times: Members of the Los Angeles teachers union have approved a temporary salary reduction in exchange for sparing thousands of jobs. The vote means that the Los Angeles Unified School District's class sizes will not increase next year and that most teachers, nurses, librarians and magnet school coordinators are likely to keep their jobs. The one-year pact calls for four unpaid furlough days, a number that could shrink or increase depending on the state budget.
