Law gives Georgia governor authority to remove Atlanta school board

To prevent ouster, Atlanta district must regain accreditation

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: GeorgiaGov. Nathan Deal has signed legislation that gives him the authority to remove the members of the AtlantaPublic school boardif the system does not regain accreditation by July. The impetus for the law is a decision in January by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to put Atlanta Public Schools on probation because of factionalism on the school board.
