New high school planned in Smith Station, Ala.

Lee County district will replace existing campus with $60 million facility
TheLee County (Ala.) school district is planning to build a new Smiths Station High School. The $60 million campus will have about 270,000 square feet, with a core facility that will serve about 1,200 students immediately. It will be equipped to accommodate growth to serve around 1,500 students in grades 10 to 12. The existing Smiths Station High School relies significantly on portable classrooms to accommodate students. The architect is Walter McKee & Associates.
