Two dead in shooting at University of Central Arkansas

Shooting occurred near a men's residence hall

A shooting at theUniversity of Central Arkansas in Conway killed two students and wounded a third person, authorities say. University police say the Sunday night shooting occurred near a men's residence hall and behind the campus police station. An officer heard the shots and police were at the scene in less than a minute. The campus is locked down Monday and classes were canceled.

UPDATE: Tom Courtway, interim president of the University of Central Arkansas says "our campus is safe." Police say there is no ongoing threat and that they are questioning two people. Authorities are seeking two more suspects, men from the central Arkansas area who are not students. The dead have been identified as Ryan Henderson, 18, and Chavares Block, 19 — both students. A non-student, Martrevis Norman of Blytheville, was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound in one of his legs. To read The Associate Press article, click here.
