Columbus (Ohio) district may have to pay more for bus costs

Sept. 23, 2010
Public transit system is likely to make rides more expensive for high school students

From The Columbus Dispatch: The Columbus (Ohio) district will have to drastically cut the number of bus trips that their high-schoolers take on the public transit system by the 2011-12 school year or face a skyrocketing bill. A measure approved by the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) board calls for the district to be charged per ride. Last school year, the district paid $520,000 for more than 17,000 high-school students to have unlimited rides on COTA buses for one year.
