Lousiana governor vetoes tax breaks for private school tuition

Kathleen Blanco says tax deductions for private tuition could undermine public schools.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has refused to grant personal income tax deductions for private and parochial school tuition. In vetoing the bill, Blanco says she was concerned that the legislation would subsidize private schools at the expense of public schools.
