Sharing services could help institutions cut costs

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: The Inter-University Council of Ohio (UIC), an association that represents the state's 14 public universities, plans to study whether shared services would work for higher-education institutions across the state. Public universities and community colleges already save money by buying goods and services through an IUC purchasing group, and most universities purchase property and casualty insurance as a group. But each institution continues to handle all business and student services in-house.
