Cleanup of toxic waste at University of California at Davis site could be costly

15-acre site housed lab that studied effects of radiation on animals
Nov. 14, 2011

From The Sacramento Bee: The University of California at Davis estimates that it will cost anywhere from $6 million to $100 million to clean up a 15-acre site contaminated with toxic and radioactive waste. The land once housed the university's Laboratory for Energy-Related Health Research; scientists conducted experiments there for the U.S. Department of Energy and prior agencies from the 1950s to the 1980s. They were studying the possible effects of radiation.
