15% of Virginia Tech students experienced post-traumatic stress after slayings

From The Roanoke Times: A Virginia Tech study has found that about 15 percent of students from 2007 reported experiencing high levels of post-traumatic stress symptoms several months after the killings that took the lives of 33 people. The study was funded by the Jed Foundation of New York and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. The survey of more than 4,600 students -- about 20 percent of the student population -- in summer and fall 2007 showed that 23 percent of women and about 10 percent of men reported experiencing major post-traumatic stress symptoms.
