March 25, 2010
From The Kansas City Star: In addition to closing schools, Kansas City (Mo.) Superintendent John Covington is promising to cut some of the more than $85 million the district pays contractors. The potential cancellation list includes a $5.3 million contract with Sodexo for food service. The district will analyze if it can manage its food service in-house as it did for many years. The district has lost money on food service, both in-house and with vendors.
