Arkansas district plans for new elementary school

550-student King Elementary will replace existing 300-student campus

The Van Buren (Ark.) School District is planning to build a 550-student campus to replace the existing King Elementary School. The original King opened in n September 1916; the building was enlarged in 1950, 1962 and 1991. It now holds almost 300 students. The state will cover 47 to 49 percent of the $10 million cost of the new campus. The district plans to seek LEED certification for the school. The architect is MAHG Architecture.
