Detroit district will break ground on police command center

From The Detroit Free Press: Detroit school district is set to break ground on a $5.6-million police command center, part of a $41.7-million initiative to improve safety in district schools. In addition to the new building, the district plans to launch a video surveillance and alarm system that will enable staff in the command center to monitor, via the Internet, cameras in dozens of schools. A new ID badge system will be in place for students, employees and visitors.
