School voucher advocates rally for legislation in Texas

Funds could help public school students afford private education.

Thousands of people from across Texas descended on the Capitol in Austin to rally for a new school voucher law that would provide public money for students to attend private institutions. Several private school parents say they need public funding so they don't have to skimp on other things to cover education costs. Public school parents at the rally say vouchers could help their children transfer from poorly performing schools to private ones.
