Burlington, Vt., voters approve $9.7 million school bond request

Three aging schools will receive upgrades

Voters in Burlington, Vt., have approved a $9.7 million bond proposal for school improvements. The money will enable the school system to renovate three schools: Barnes, Flynn and C.P. Smith. Barnes, built in 1957, will receive a new roof, new walls, windows, boilers, electrical upgrade and accessibility improvements. Flynn, built in 1955, will get a new roof, new walls, new boilers and classroom unit heaters, electrical upgrades and improved accessibility. Smith, built in 1959, will receive new walls, windows, electrical, and fire alarm systems, and accessibility upgrades.
