Kansas districts sue state over funding cuts

63 districts contend the cuts violate the state's constitution

From The Kansas City Star: A coalition of 63 Kansas school districts has sued the state, contending that cuts to education spending violate the state's constitution. The districts want a court to compel lawmakers to reverse budget cuts made in response to the economic downturn. The suit contends lawmakers cut more than $303 million from schools since the downturn began — even though lawmakers had previously agreed to increase funding.
