Boston school committee chairwoman removes herself from superintendent search committee

Some blame her for the withdrawal of the district's choice for new superintendent.

Boston School Committee chairwoman Elizabeth Reilinger has stepped aside as head of the superintendent search committee. She has been under fire since the abrupt withdrawal last month of Manuel J. Rivera as the new schools chief. Some people close to Rivera have said that part of the reason he backed away from the Boston job was the role Reilinger appeared to have in school operations.
