Permit granted for Purcellville, Va., high school construction

But the Town of Purcellville says the project would violate a planning agreement.

The Loudoun County (Va.) Board of Supervisors has approved a special exception permit to allow the school system to begin construction on a high school outside Purcellville, but a judge may have to decide when or if construction will begin. The Town of Purcellville will soon have three lawsuits pending to stop the high school, which town officials say would violate a planning agreement between the county and the town.

EARLIER: Purcellville, Va., has won a victory in its legal fight to block Loudoun County's plans for a high school outside the town limits. A judge has affirmed the town's right to have some authority over new public facilities just beyond its borders. But it was not immediately clear whether the ruling would delay plans for a campus that school district officials say is badly needed. Town officials went to court last summer to halt plans for the school, citing concerns about increased traffic.(Washington Post)
