Alaska district plans for bond election for new high school

Kodiak Island Borough plan would cost $80 million
July 20, 2009

From The Kodiak Daily Mirror: The Kodiak Island Borough (Alaska) School District is hoping to place an $80 million bond proposal for a new Kodiak High School on the ballot in October. The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly is expected to decide next month whether or not to include the $80 million bond — whose community contribution is $28 million — on the Oct. 6 ballot. The bond, if approved by voters, would pay for an updated high school. Administrators say the existing facility is crowded and outdated.
