Judge tells UC Davis to disclose names of police involved in pepper-spray incident

Union representing officers had tried to keep identities secret
June 27, 2012

From The Sacramento Bee: A judge has ordered the University of California, Davis, to disclose the names of police officers involved in last November's pepper-spray incident on the campus. The Federated University Police Officers Association – the union representing campus police officers – had argued that state law prohibited the disclosure amid concerns that revealing their identities could expose them to harassment. But Superior Court Judge Evelio Grillo concluded that the report was separate from any internal affairs investigation into the actions of police officers and is subject to release in full under the California Public Records Act.
