Proposed law could expand presence of charter schools in Indiana
From The Indianapolis Star: Charter schools could rapidly become more prevalent across Indiana under proposed legislation that would make it easier for charter developers to open schools, take control of existing public schools and take over empty school buildings. The bill would create a new statewide charter school board, charged with sponsoring new charters, and allow mayors of cities with more than 35,000 residents and private, nonprofit universities to serve as sponsors.
