Officials predict that the panels will offset energy costs by 55 percent
May 24, 2011

News release: The East Side Union (Calif.) High School District in San Jose has completed construction of what it says is the largest K-12 solar and energy efficiency program in the United States. The district expects to save $43 million with the 7.1 megawatt solar and energy-efficiency project. East Side Union projects the program will offset its annual electrical usage by more than 55 percent. As a result, the district expects to reduce carbon emissions by more than 4,900 metric tons. Chevron Energy Solutions designed, constructed and operates the solar panels and engineered the energy-efficiency improvements in the district.
