Easy access to guns jeopardizes student safety in Memphis

More than 160 gun crimes since 2003 in Memphis and Shelby County, Tenn., schools

A newspaper investigation has found that there have been more than 160 gun crimes on Memphis and Shelby County, Tenn., school campuses since 2003. In a majority of those cases, students were found with guns in their pockets, backpacks and lockers and carted off to juvenile hall to face felony charges. But on 15 occasions--on average, three times a year--the guns were actually fired on school property.
