High school cheating divides New Hampshire town

Nine students face criminal charges in connection with stealing exams from the school.

Nine teens who were students last June at Hanover (N.H.) High School face criminal charges in connection with the thefts of exams from the school. About 50 teens are suspected of participating in the thefts, either helping to plan the thefts or receiving answers from stolen exams. The scandal has divided the community--some residents lay blame squarely on the nine accused students while others have questioned whether the intense competitiveness of the school forced students into positions of having to cheat.
