Hazing incident leads to indictment of 11 students

Eleven students from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg have been indicted in connection with an alleged hazing incident in August at a fraternity house. Each student has been charged with conspiracy to commit hazing, two counts of first-degree hazing and one count of second-degree hazing. The charges stem from an incident Aug. 28 at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house that involved initiating female students so they could become "little sisters" of the fraternity. Students who aspired to become little sisters were made to run across a volleyball court several times where beer, whiskey and vodka were waiting for them on each end. Their hair was covered in pancake syrup and Silly String, and little sisters already affiliated with the fraternity randomly tilted the hopefuls' heads back and poured alcohol down their throats.
