Pittsfield Township turned down Michigan Islamic Academy's request for a zoning change

From The Detroit News: A Muslim school asserts in a lawsuit that Pittsfield Township, Mich., violated the school's constitutional rights by denying a request to build a new school in the area. The Pittsfield Township planning commission last year turned down the Michigan Islamic Academy's request to build a new facility. The school now is in Ann Arbor but its need for more space led it to buy land in the township. Township officials cited traffic concerns and complaints by local residents when they rejected the request of a zoning changes, but school supporters say those reasons were a ploy to block the school from moving into the area.
