Cleveland district will house science-focused high school on GE site

School system will renovate building wing on company's Nela Park campus
Aug. 8, 2008

The Cleveland school district and GE have reached an agreement that will turn part of the company's Nela Park campus into a new year-round high school for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. A lease will allow the 100 ninth-graders in the first class at the MC STEM High School to observe the types of jobs they may someday hold. Nela Park is headquarters for General Electric Co.'s $6.6 billion-a-year lighting and industrial unit. The schools will pay $3.2 million to renovate a two-story building wing, with most of the money from corporate and nonprofit foundations.
