Florida elementary school overwhelmed by crowding

Despite opening 2 elementary schools last year, Pasco County district says enrollment at Wesley Chapel campus will be at double its capacity

Crowding is nothing new for Wesley Chapel Elementary School.in the Pasco County (Fla.) district. The school, built for just 618 students, has seen its enrollment near 1,500 several times. The district opened Double Branch and New River elementary schools schools last year to help bring Wesley Chapel down to more manageable numbers. Still, the kids just keep coming. The latest projections by district planners show that Wesley Chapel will be back at 200 percent of capacity by the first day of classes later this summer.
