New York district settles mouth-taping lawsuit
The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (N.Y.) Central School District and one of its teachers have settled a lawsuit with a former student who accused the teacher of intentionally wrapping tape around his head because he was talking too much. A judge has approved a settlement of $33,250 to the student, Adam Roser, 16, and his family. He contended that in January 2004, his math teacher at W.A. Wettel Elementary School covered his mouth, ears and nose with tape for several minutes.
