Plans approved for net-zero school building in New York City

From The New York Observer: The New York City School Construction Authority is planning to build a school in Staten Island that will be "net zero," meaning it will generate enough energy to offset its already minimal usage. It is the first such building of its kind in New York. The city's Public Design Commission has approved the plans for P.S. 62 in the Rossville section of southern Staten Island. The 70,000-square-foot building will hold 444 seats. The architect is SOM.
