State says arrangement violates district's conflict-of-interest policy
From The Detroit News: A nonprofit company run by a Detroit school board member is losing a lucrative contract to provide tutoring services for district students because it violates the district's conflict of interest policy, according to a letter from the Michigan Department of Education. Alkebu-Lan Village Tutorial Services, run by school board member Marvis Cofield, has garnered $797,639 from 2005 to 2009.
