Officials hope private company can provide meals more efficiently

From The Columbus Dispatch: Columbus (Ohio) schools want to contract some of their food operations to a private company that promises to bring the indebted department back to solvency. Food-management corporation Sodexo wants to raise lunch prices, shrink staffing through attrition and use its national purchasing power to reduce the district's losses. The Columbus district's food-service department has been bleeding money at an annual rate of about $3 million and officials have long discussed privatizing some of the operations.
