Teachers union sues Broward County (Fla.) board over e-mails

Unions says e-mails from teachers are being labeled spam and blocked
Feb. 19, 2010
From The Miami Herald: Complaining that teachers' e-mails are being intercepted as spam before reaching elected officials, the union for Broward County (Fla.) teachers has filed a lawsuit against the Broward County School Board. The suit comes on the heels of union newspaper advertisements accusing Superintendent Jim Notter of misusing district money -- and in the midst of prolonged contract negotiations. Attorneys for the union say in the suit that the district violated employees' rights to free speech by blocking the messages. It also accused the district of wiretapping.
