Voters reject plans for new elementary in Edison Township, N.J.

Added classroom space would have addressed space shortage

Voters in the Edison Township, N.J., district have rejected a $57.8 million proposal to build an elementary school and upgrade three existing schools. Officials say the new elementary school and additions to existing campuses would have eased crowding in a district that is 2,000 to 3,000 seats short of its needed capacity.
