Carthage (Mo.) district wins bond approval to ease interest costs
From The Joplin Globe: The Carthage (Mo.) district has won approval of a bond proposal that will cover interest costs on construction of a new Carthage Vocational-Technical School.
Earlier...from The Joplin Globe: Voters in Carthage (Mo.) school district will decide on Aug. 4 whether to approve a bond issue to ease interest costs for a new Carthage Vocational-Technical School. Interest costs were to be paid by the Steadley Foundation, as part of a $3 million grant to help build the new school. But after the financing package was announced, funding from Qualified School Construction Bonds was made available as part of the federal economic-stimulus package, and officials decided to seek approval of the bonds and redirect the money pledged by Steadley to other projects. If voters approve the measure by a two-thirds majority, the district will be spared interest payments of up to $850,000.
