From The Columbus Dispatch: An extensive background check on Nathaniel Brown would have revealed he'd lied on his Ohio State University job application about his criminal past. that would have nixed his hiring as a university custodian, and averted the killing on campus early Tuesday morning.Earlier....from The Columbus Dispatch: An Ohio State University janitor who was about to lose his job walked into a maintenance building and shot two supervisors, killing one of them, and fatally shooting himself. No students were hurt. Nathaniel Brown, 51, opened fire in an office suite using two handguns. Building services manager Larry Wallington, 48, died at the scene, and operations shift leader Henry Butler, 60, was wounded and is in stable condition at Ohio State University Medical Center. The university sent Brown a letter March 2 informing him that his employment was to end Saturday. Also from The Columbus Dispatch: One person has been killed and two others have been injured in a shooting on the Ohio State University campus in Columbus. The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the OSU Maintenance Building. All three persons shot were university employees, according to OSU Police. None was a student. One of the employees is believed to be the shooter; OSU officials would not say if that person is the employee who was killed. The two people injured in the shooting were transported to the OSU Medical Center; one was in critical condition and the other in stable condition.
